Bernard Leach is generally acknowledged as the father of studio pottery. As an artist and thinker he towers above other twentieth century potters in both the extent of his activities as a potter and as a spokesman for a movement that revolutionised our understanding of art and craft. In 2005 the opportunity arose to purchase and save the studio where Bernard had worked and taught for much of his life and The Leach Restoration Project was born.
CTD originally won the pitch for The Leach Restoration Project fundraising campaign, which led to the supply of all graphic design provisions including permanent exhibition, signage, website and print as well as consultation. The newly restored old workshops, gallery, museum, new studios and shop opened early in March this year.
